ΤΟ ΑΣΠΡΟ ΣΑΛΙΓΚΑΡΙ ηταν σημερα στο Α Δημοτικο σχολειο της Κερκυρας, οπου οι μικροι μαθητες ειχαν την ευκαιρια να περασουν μια ευχαριστη ωρα με διαφορες δραστηριοτητες.

Ακουσαν το παραμυθι ενω συνχρονως παρακολουθουσαν την ιστορια μεσα απο τις εικονες στον προτζεκτορα και μετα ζωγραφισαν σαλιγκαρια.

Ευχαριστουμε πολυ την διευθυντρια του σχολειου καθως και ολους τους εκπαιδευτικους που βοηθησαν ωστε να γινει μια ωραια εκπαιδευτικη παρουσιαση!

Ελπιζουμε να εχουμε την ιδια ανταποκριση και απο αλλα σχολεια στο νησι και ισως...πιο περα!

The White Snail, a charming little book written and illustrated by author Iliana Metallinou, is the first of a series of bilingual educational stories for young readers. Written in both Greek and English (flip the book over to access the story in the other language), The White Snail tells the story of a little snail who discovers that his shell is white and therefore different than the shells of the other snails. From that day on, he feels unhappy with his appearance and tries to find a way to look like the other snails. I don't want to spoil the ending; suffice it to say that the moral of the story is that differences can be quite attractive. From an English reader's perspective (the other side is all Greek to me), there are too many words on a page — as well as too many difficult words — for age-appropriate children (ages 3-6) to read the story themselves. However, it's a good story for parents to read to their young children. The illustrations are colorful and will attract the attention of the young listeners, the story has a healthy message, and it offers some educational tidbits about the lives of snails along the way. Even if you're not planning to learn Greek, this is a little book worth looking into. Iliana Metallinou teaches English in Corfu, writes articles and stories, and paints. The White Snail is a delightful read for a parent, or any young child interested in following the story line through the simplistic but colorful illustrations. Iliana Metallinou delicately and sensitively tackles a major issue of our time through the rudimentary tale of a white snail. It just happens that the snail too doesn’t realize anything is different until he sees his reflection in a raindrop on a leaf.

Trying to fit in, and be like all the other brown snails, the white snail paints his little home brown. That serves him well for awhile and gives him peace of mind until a rainstorm comes along and washes away his disguise. After he receives a nice compliment from a female snail, the white snail learns that he too is beautiful and can deal with the fact he’s a little different looking from all the rest. The story ends happily with the little brown snail and the white snail having a family.

Written in both Greek and English, I highly recommend this book for small children, ages 2-6.
